A Roman Catholic liberal arts school based in the Twin Cities, the University of St. Thomas serves more than 10,000 students annually, making it the largest private school in Minnesota. Named for philosopher and theologian Thomas Aquinas, the university embodies values of both faith and reason, stressing academic excellence and inquiry in a Christian moral framework. UST offers programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels in fields including arts and sciences, business, education, social work, and law. UST hosts a variety of continuing, professional, and online education programs that serve the needs of working adults. Distance learners can select from several fully online and blended degrees and certificates, available primarily at the graduate level. The school offers a variety of business master's degrees, along with select programs in social work, education, and Catholic studies. Working professionals can also pursue several noncredit professional development courses, such as cultural competency for educators.

Admissions Breakdown
Acceptance Rate Insight
51% of students were accepted during the 2020-2021 school year. Sometimes schools with midrange acceptance rates have higher standards of entry but are still accessible to many students who apply.
Retention Rate Insight
91% of full-time students stayed to continue their studies the following academic year. These students started in Fall 2019 and returned in Fall 2020.
Graduation Rate Insight
85% of students graduated out of all full-time, first-time students who began their studies in Fall 2014. Keep in mind many students who enroll are not typically first-time students, as most are adult learners. Therefore, the number of first-time students is traditionally low.
