The University of New England trains more health professionals than any other college or university in Maine. In addition to its expansive undergraduate offerings in exercise science, dental hygiene, and nursing, UNE hosts the state's online medical college, dental college, and physician assistant program. The university also serves current medical professionals with continuing education courses in subjects like manual medicine and stress reduction. UNE also provides more than a dozen fully online programs, including curriculum and instructional strategies, health informatics, and social work. Both online and in-person learners at UNE may take advantage of tutoring, research assistance, skill development workshops, and mental health counseling services. Freshman applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, but UNE does not specifically require prospective students to take the ACT or SAT. Each year, the university awards more than $40M in institutional scholarships, with each student receiving an average aid package of roughly $26,000.

Admissions Breakdown
Acceptance Rate Insight
9% of students were accepted during the 2020-2021 school year. Sometimes schools with midrange acceptance rates have higher standards of entry but are still accessible to many students who apply.
Retention Rate Insight
86% of full-time students stayed to continue their studies the following academic year. These students started in Fall 2019 and returned in Fall 2020.
Graduation Rate Insight
95% of students graduated out of all full-time, first-time students who began their studies in Fall 2014. Keep in mind many students who enroll are not typically first-time students, as most are adult learners. Therefore, the number of first-time students is traditionally low.
