Founded in 1863 as an agricultural school, the University of Massachusetts Amherst stands as the flagship institution in the UMass system. The school serves more than 30,000 students, many of whom pursue hybrid or fully online academics through Blackboard Learn. The school's online degree catalog contains a bachelor of business administration completion track that is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. BBA candidates must transfer in at least 27 credits earned with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The program enables learners to customize their degree plan with majors in accounting, marketing, and hospitality and tourism management. At the graduate level, remote programs cover fields like public health, plant and soil sciences, historic preservation, and labor studies. Business students may extend their education by earning an MBA that comes with five emphasis areas. They can also enroll in an accelerated master of alternative financial investments program. Through a one-year curriculum, finance students develop the asset management skills needed to work for consulting companies and private equity firms. Graduate applicants typically need 3-5 years of relevant work experience.

5% of students were accepted during the 2020-2021 school year. Sometimes schools with midrange acceptance rates have higher standards of entry but are still accessible to many students who apply.
Retention Rate Insight
76% of full-time students stayed to continue their studies the following academic year. These students started in Fall 2019 and returned in Fall 2020.
Graduation Rate Insight
98% of students graduated out of all full-time, first-time students who began their studies in Fall 2014. Keep in mind many students who enroll are not typically first-time students, as most are adult learners. Therefore, the number of first-time students is traditionally low.
