Originally founded near the end of the Civil War, FSU features six colleges and schools, an honors program, and graduate-level programs. Many departments offer associate and bachelor's programs, and some offer accelerated master's degrees. Additionally, FSU's online courses allow degree-seekers to learn in a hybrid format. FSU promotes students' career readiness in many ways. For example, learners can visit the school's career services center to receive one-on-one help with resume writing and interview preparation. FSU accepts GED and TASC scores, and the university requires a minimum score of 18 on the ACT or 950 on the SAT. The university prefers applicants who have completed certain high school course prerequisites. Institutional scholarship amounts vary, and incoming students need not submit an additional scholarship application. Other financial aid opportunities include a work-study program.

Admissions Breakdown
Acceptance Rate Insight
84% of students were accepted during the 2020-2021 school year. Sometimes schools with midrange acceptance rates have higher standards of entry but are still accessible to many students who apply.
Retention Rate Insight
82% of full-time students stayed to continue their studies the following academic year. These students started in Fall 2019 and returned in Fall 2020.
Graduation Rate Insight
62% of students graduated out of all full-time, first-time students who began their studies in Fall 2014. Keep in mind many students who enroll are not typically first-time students, as most are adult learners. Therefore, the number of first-time students is traditionally low.
